When you are visiting Makkah, you will probably be spending most of your time around the Masjid al Haram and spending as much time as possible near the Kabah.
However in Makkah there are so many other sites that are very significant for a Muslim. When you are in Makkah you should try to visit these sites. Please see some places below that you could visit.
✔Arafat
Located about 20 kilometers from Makkah, Arafat is where the Day of Arafat is observed during Hajj. Mount Arafat itself is a significant site where pilgrims stand to seek Allah’s mercy and forgiveness. Arafat is where the prophet stood for hours during hajj and made dua for the ummah.
✔Jabal al-Rahma (Mountain of Mercy)
Situated in the plain of Arafat, this mountain is where Prophet Adam and Eve are believed to have been reunited after their expulsion from paradise. It is also where Prophet Muhammad delivered his farewell sermon during his final pilgrimage.
✔Mina
During the Hajj pilgrimage, pilgrims spend time in Mina. It is known for the Jamarat (stone pillars) where pilgrims symbolically stone the devil. The rituals in Mina are a critical part of the Hajj pilgrimage.
✔Cave of Hira
Located on Jabal al-Noor (Mountain of Light), this cave is where the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) received his first revelation from Allah through the angel Jibreel (Gabriel). It’s a place of profound spiritual significance.
✔The Quran Exhibition
Located near the Masjid al-Haram, this exhibition showcases an extensive collection of ancient Qurans, manuscripts, and Islamic art.
✔Jannatul Mualla Graveyard
This site has a significant place in the history of Islam as it is the graveyard where Hazrat Khadija, the first wife of Prophet Muhammad, along with some other family members is buried.
✔Cave of Thawr
This is the cave where Prophet Muhammad, along with his companion Abubaker, took refuge while they were migrating from Makkah to Madinah. This site holds a special place in the hearts of Muslims all around the world.
✔Masjid Aisha
Masjid e Taneem or Aisha Mosque is a known destination among pilgrims. This is the site where the beloved wife of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), Aisha prepared to enter into the state of Ihram. This mosque is a miqat for preparing oneself for Ihram and is well equipped with facilities like bathing areas and washrooms
